<< (...) In Vanessa Carlesso Bortignon's sculpture it is instead a thread that contains and holds together the different sharp shapes generated in these ten days. Thorns, which, detached from the stem of the rose, are distributed horizontally creating a hypothetical cloak that can be worn, thus becoming a protective shield. ‘Initially I dwelt on the phrase that gives the title to the project and talking about only one way and only one shape seemed limiting,’ he explains. ‘Then my thoughts went to thorn the thorn the thorns. Several thorn the same time do the least harm than just one,' she continues. The parts of the poem she focused on are all dedicated to the rose and the woman. That rose which for Jung was archetype of the mother and which is a symbol of the feminine and of femininity and those women Pasolini tells us about intent on sewing and whose ‘obedience is called weakness’. Vanessa is also a woman who sews, who creates sculptures that contrasting the softness of the thread with the hardness of ceramics, who reflects on what the garment is, the accessory and the body she asks to adapt to the forms that dress it and not vice versa. >>
