Art I Var ‘3

2023
Fabric, paper, plastic, steel and iron.

Art I Var ‘3 tells the story of fabrics from old Italian homes, and of the textile motifs that have shaped our collective imagination over time. It is a textile sampler where contemporary fabrics and materials are assembled together, side by side. The figures that animate this story are drawn from Venetian, Florentine, and Sardinian textile traditions. Their patterns blend with the artist’s personal memories — particularly those of the upholstery in her grandmother Gioconda’s house, where she lived for many years. On the front page appears one of Gioconda’s crochet works, presented almost like an archaeological find. On the back, we read her words: “This is from when I had time — back then, I used to get lost doing it with my hands.”
To touch with hands — that is the core of this work: a tactile book, an invitation to discover Italian tradition and its living presence.
